I have had such a horrible day today that I think I might be loosing my mind!!! I am so stressed about the pre-inspection tomorrow that I think my head is going to explode soon. There is so much left to do before they come but such little time. I have been busting my butt packing and cleaning and cleaning and packing and yet there is still so much left to do.
On top of everything else that is stressing me out, I got a call from Tyrique's school about an hour ago. My son and some other little boys were playing around in the bathroom at school on Monday and Tyrique put one of the boys into a semi head lock. The kid went home and told his parents that he hurt his neck and the parents called the police. They have pressed charges against my son for assault!!!! The police went to the school since the incident happened on school ground and the staff called my son into the office.
When they questioned Tyrique the assistant Principle said Tyrique was very courteous and told them the truth. He also said that the other boy didn't do anything to him and Tyrique put him in the semi head lock only joking around. He said he never meant to hurt him and he was really sorry about hurting him.
The assistant Principle said because Tyrique was honest and very well mannered when being questioned they are not going to expel him from school!?!? Instead Tyrique gets 5 days of out of school detention and he will be moved out of the class that he shares with this other boy.
Now, I am not saying my son is innocent. He is almost 13 years old and he does some pretty stupid stuff sometimes...no he does some pretty stupid stuff a lot of the times. But he is a pre-teen and that's what they do. I remember being almost 13 and being the coolest person in the whole world. I try to keep that in mind when my cool almost 13 year old does stupid stuff.
What is scaring the crap out of me is that the other boys parents are pressing charges against my son. I don't know what is going to happen in regards to the charges. Tyrique is not a fighter, he is the kid that walks away from fights. He is the child that worries about everyone else and thinks of himself last.
He is not perfect trust me. He is really bad about talking back....not really talking back, he always has to have the last word. If I tell him to go upstairs to his room because he did something wrong, he will try to sit here and say "But Mom, I did....." and I can't stand that. Tyrique is not the kind of kid to hurt someone and he is not a trouble maker.
Okay I know this post was really all over the place but I am so freaked out right now that I can't think straight. When I am already freaking out about the pre-inspection, this happens. Now what is the appropriate punishment for this???

Sounds like a typical preteen to me!
My question is why did the school not call you when the police got there?? why did they wait until afterwards?
That's insane that the other family is pressing charges. Seriously 13 year old boys rough house. I could see it if maybe he punched him and left marks but a semi headlock? Ridiculous. I hope it all goes away soon and that the pre-inspection goes smoothly.
Sounds like to me a typical teen. Maybe you can talk to the parents and see if there is something you can work out.
Sometimes I think things are blown way out of proportion. I hope you can work this out.
Some people are just amazing, seriously I don't understand why the other family would press charges!! Some people live for drama I guess. I hope things work out and everything is dropped. SO sorry you going through such a stressful time right now, things will get better soon. {{hugs}}
Oh, Helga!! Wow...seems a little extreme on the other kids' parents...talk about overreaction! A big hug from me to you!! (((Helga)))
I'm a so sorry your having a bad day! I hope tomorrow gets better:)
Ok, have you talked to the police yet? Because, if Tyrique is as courteous (coach him on this) to the police as he was to the principal, then he may just get a slap on the hand. He has no prior conviction - cops aren't stupid, he's not going to get into a ton of trouble for putting a kid in a head lock. (And, the parents may just be saying that they're going to press charges to scare you/him)
Don't "what if" yourself to death - remember that Phil. 4:8 says, "Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think on these things." All those "what if's" are not TRUE. They're trouble. Don't think them. Deal with what you know to be true, and find the good in it.
As for the inspection, dear friend, I wish you a very SPEEDY CLEANING day! I hope you get everything done that you need to!!!!
And, I hope your day is better.
