This is how we roll

When we were moving my stuff over to my sisters house the other day I had to get my mattress somehow and we had no moving truck because the only big thing was my mattress and the boys mattress.

Most of the people that drove past us laughed and pointed and my sisters were so embarrassed that they wanted to hide while I just laughed with everyone and even waved a time or two.  I don't embarrass easily!

Exhausted

Last night I had a really bad night and I wasn't able to fall asleep.  I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself and missing being married and got all sad and depressed.  The thought of having to meet men and date and be single is scary.  I get irritated just thinking about it.  I am so over the dating scene and meeting guys who are trying to sell themselves (not prostitutes but just make themselves sound perfect) when I know that they all have flaws and are just normal people like me.  I hate that I have to make myself into a walking resume in regards to dating.....eeewww!!!  I don't want to have to advertise how good of a cook I am (that would be lying but I won't tell if you won't tell LOL), telling someone about my interests and hobbies.  What guy cares that I love to do crafts and my dream is to one day have my very own scrapbooking room (this would be a dream come true by the way).  This sucks....whoever said being Single was a good thing lied!!! 

My toes are cold at night because I have no one to warm them against.  All the work around the house is waiting for me every day when I get home, no one is there to help share the chores with me.  I have no one there to tell when I am having a bad day or to tell about something exciting when it happens.  I really miss these things!!

Let me tell you a few things that I do not miss....

I don't have to worry about anyone eating in my bed!!!

The money I earn is mine and mine alone....I do have 3 sons to share that money with and buy everything for but I get to decide what, when and how.

I do not have to clean up after anyone other than the boys and I.

If I don't feel like cooking dinner, I can make sandwiches and the boys are just as happy.

If I want to stay up all night reading I don't have to worry about a husband waking up to the light being on and telling me to go to bed.

When I get in the car I never have to adjust the seat...it is always as I left it.

I don't have to shave unless I want to and feel like it!!!

I have one less mouth to feed and that means a lot less cooking when I cook...not that I do a lot of that since I came here to Iceland.

My hopes and dreams for the future can be whatever I want them to be and I don't have to adjust them or alter them to make someone else happy....like moving to Chicago hmm hmm!!!

In other words there are a lot of good things about being single.  It just takes some getting used to and I need to have days where I can feel sorry for myself and miss married life.  

Last night my feeling sorry for myself kept me from sleeping and I went to work this morning at 5:30 AM after getting no sleep and I am telling you all.....I am running on fumes!!!  I have already told my sister and her husband that I am going to sleep at 6 PM (I get home a few minutes before then).  No I have to make myself stay up and spend a little bit of time with the boys before I pass out.

I have to get going now because we are gonna be getting really busy here at work in a few minutes.  Break is over and time to get back to the grind before I fall asleep on my keyboard LOL.

Getting to know YOU

Sunday is actually here.  I feel like the weekend flew by.  Tomorrow is back to work and this is my long work week :o(  It's okay though, I like my job :o)

1. If you had to choose a country to live in besides USA (or the country you live in), which would it be?

I wouldn't mind living in Norway or Sweden.  Just to try something different.

2. Which would be worse, wearing flip flops in the snow or wearing gloves in the summer?

Ew, wearing gloves in the summer would be horrible!! 

3. Fried or Bake and why?

I make most things baked rather than fried just because it is healthier.  I also hate the smell of fried food in my house....the fried smell stays in the house for days.

4. If you were an entertainment reporter, which celeb would you love to interview and why?

Usher!!!  I love that man and I would love to sit and chit chat with him....maybe flirt just a little bit too :o)

5. What was your favorite book as a preteen/teenager?

My Sister the Moon.  I still love that book to this day.

6. List your top 3 guilty pleasure television shows.

True Blood, Gray's Anatomy and Private Practice.  I could add to this list forever but since I am supposed to only list 3 I will stop here.

7. What bumper sticker slogan best describes you/your attitude/your life?

Sh*t happens!!!

8. If you were to join a circus - what performer would you be?

A clown :o)  I love to make people laugh and I think the clown would be the perfect circus job for me....not that I want to do that in real life!!!

So there you have it....it only took me about 5 hours to get these question answered for your guys (I got company and had to go grocery shopping in between).

30 by 30 Reality check!!!

The other day my sister and I took the first pictures of us in our series of pictures for my 30 by 30.  I have decided as I mentioned previously that I am going to post my pictures on here.....if you all see what I look like in real life (not just the pictures that I approve where you can't see any flab) maybe I will be better about doing something about it!!!  I weighed myself yesterday morning and my weight was 85 kilos or 187 pounds.  I am 168 cm or 5'5.5".

You have no idea how hard it was to post these pictures!!!  This has been a complete reality check!!  I had no idea what I looked like until I took these pictures....how did I let this happen??

Now in the last week I have gone out for a 2 hour walk with Kobe in his stroller and 3 bike rides.  Each of the bike rides was a good bike ride and not just a quick stroll on the bike.  Tonight we went for a 1.5 hour bike ride around the little town where I live and it felt really good.  I feel so much better and I am sleeping really good. 

We (my sister and I) have also taken the kids to the pool two days in a row and we spent almost 3 hours there each time.  My face is so red today from the day but I know it will be back to normal tomorrow.  This weekend has been so great so far and I am so happy with it.

Tomorrow we are going to go for a bike ride too and I am really looking forward to it.

 

Five Question Friday

It is Friday and it is beautiful outside.  My sister and I went to her old house and prepared it for inspection and then we did a little bit of running around down town.  After that we took our children to the pool and it was so much fun.  We were there for 3 hours and the pool was almost empty.  There are two slides (huge slides) and the kids had a blast going down them.  There is a kiddie pool that is really big and perfect for parents to lay in and sun bathe as their kids play and my sister and I layed in that one almost the whole time watching the kids play.  It was so much fun that we didn't want to go home (the mom's and the kids) but we had to go because they were getting ready to close.  Now we are home making home made pizza for dinner and then I think we might just go to bed early so we can do some more fun stuff tomorrow....like ride bikes and maybe go swimming again.

1. Do you collect anything?

I used to collect decorative African masks but now that I am back here in Iceland I am not really collecting anything other than dust!!  

2. Name 3 celebrities that you find good looking.

Usher, Taye Diggs and the black guy on Criminal minds (I don't remember his name and I know he is gay but he is super cute!!!).  

3. Do you have any scars? If so, what's the story behind it (them?)?

I have a c-section scar from having Kobe, I have stretch marks from top to bottom from having all three of the boys and I have a scar on the left corner of my forehead from falling down the stairs when I was 2 years old.  

4. What is a food that you like to eat, but others might think it's gross or weird?

I eat horse meat!  In Iceland that is the norm but when I tell Americans that I eat horse they get all grossed out :o)  I think it's kinda funny!!

5. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life?

Yes, when I was about 11 or 12 we were camping in Wyoming and there was a tornado that went right over us.  We had to go into a ditch and cover up so we wouldn't get sucked up.  It was the scariest thing ever!!!

Just Thursday and some pictures of my house

It's Thursday and I am here at work.  The best part is that I have the weekend off starting at 5:30 PM today.  What am I gonna do with my free time?  I am gonna ride my new Bike with the boys and my sister.  I am gonna go out to the light house close to the house and I might start painting the house....that all depends on how much work my brother in law gets done today.  I have taken a few picture so I can post some before and after pictures to show you.  Here are a few sneak peek pictures that were taken last year when my Dad lived there.    

This is the front of the house.  I live on the top floor.

This is what my kitchen looked like when I moved back.  The cabinets are now painted white and the floor is going to be changed out soon....yippy!!!

I hope you liked this sneak peek into my house.  I can't wait to show you guys the pictures after the new flooring has been put in and the walls have been painted.

The time is.. 12:02 PM

Today I feel.. great knowing I have the weekend off and my apartment is being worked on finally!!!

I am thinking.. about how I am going to decorate the boy's rooms.

At the moment, I am thankful.. that my brother in law loves to do handy work around the house.  He was so excited to start tearing the house apart and I am so lucky.  Not everyone is this willing to help their sister in law.  Thank you Caleb...you are the best!!!

I am going.. to be busy for the next few hours till I get home.

I am wearing.. Work uniform...dark gray pants with dark gray vest and white button down shirt.

I wish.. I could fast forward time a little bit...not when it comes to the boys though.  I would want to slow down the time with them if I could.

I am reading.. blogs :o)  I finished my book and am not starting a new one with everything else that is going on.  

I am working on.. finishing this blog post, the rest of my day at work and then I am going on a bike ride :o)

I am working on my house too...well I haven't started but my brother in law has LOL!!!

I am hoping..  the floors look nice when they are done :o)

I am hearing.. customers talking and fingers typing LOL.

Around the house.. the floors are being ripped out!!!

I bet you didn't know.. I have a hard time sleeping if I am not in my own bed and for that reason I brought my bed with me to my sisters house. 

One of my favorite.. chocolates is Lindor chocolates with the red wrapper.  I used to love getting one when I went to Borders or Michael's.  Yummy!!!

My weekend plans include..going to the pool with the boys and bike riding :o)
